Champaign, OH:  Go Ask Alice!

Good Morning, little local market of love customers!!

This morning, I come to you as your market manager AND as one of the local non-artist celebrities participating in the yearly fundraiser for the Champaign County Arts Council!! I am one of the artists in the Bad Art By Good People fundraiser!!

My art project comes from the heart, and it’s very, very, well…me! The voting is now open! If you would like to participate in this amazing fundraiser, feel free to cast a vote, or two or a hundred my way!!

Just a tiny bit about my project…but you can also go to the link I will provide, here, to see my project, and to vote! Or, you can vote for me at the YMCA during market pick up times!! Or stop in the Arts Council OR come to my Cosmic Breads and Threads shop, right downtown, and cast your vote! It’s only 1.00/vote…and the money goes to so many of their projects for the arts!! There is also a PayPal button on the Arts Council’s link. It’s that time of year, again, and it’s time to be all arty, and groovy…

A bit about my bad art….
My art project is a journey, and the tumbling pictures are all verses of, White Rabbit, which also serves at Cosmic Charlie’s catch phrase…Feed Your Head. But, not just with food…with as much stuff as you can possibly think to do, read, listen to, and explode in life.

There is top hat, in the center of the board, which is always my signature, but in this case, it acts as the rabbit hole, of Alice In Wonderland.

The hippie chick comes to life in her life’s journey, down the rabbit hole, and finding herself, in her second part of life…

A vote for the hippie keeps it trippy!

Go Ask Alice!

Hey, while you’re at it, place your market order!! Be super groovy!!

Champaign, OH:  Somebody To Love

When the garden flowers baby are dead, yes and…
Your mind, your mind is so full of red…
Don’t you want somebody to love, don’t you…
Need somebody to love, wouldn’t you
Love somebody to love, you better
Find somebody to love…
(Jefferson Airplane-Somebody To Love)

This little market is always about the love…about showing the love, being the love, rockin’ the love of local.

I picked this song, tonight, to honor the passing of yet another great musician, in a matter of weeks. As you know, your market manager takes her music, the musicians, and the love of the vibe, very seriously. So, I am left with great sadness, tonight, over the passing Paul Kantner of Jefferson Airplane.

Our little local market of love thrives on the love of it’s customers, it’s vendors, the YMCA, and it’s community. We can only hope to continue the love fest that continues to grow, become stronger, and is ready to take us into our fifth year.

Get to know us. Find out what we are about. Know that the love we feel for you is real. Know that we continue to make sure that we bring you the best of the best of the rock stars of local, each and every week.

Tonight, I open the market with nothing but love. Take a look, and maybe you will find something about us to fall in love with.

Don’t you want somebody to love…well, we have a whole lot of something to love…

Peace, Love, Good Vibes…
Cosmic Pam

Cultured Traditions has listed a new traditional Russian fermented drink – Bread Kvass
What is Bread Kvass?
Bread Kvass is a fermented beverage traditionally made from toasted dark rye bread. It has been consumed in Russia for at least 1,000 years, enjoyed by everyone from czars to peasants. Slightly brown and bubbly, with a beer-like taste and many other malty and fruity flavor notes, Bread Kvass is very refreshing and is said to be among the best things on earth to quench your thirst. During hot summer months in Russia it is sold straight from huge barrels by street vendors and people line up to get a glass of cold tangy beverage.
Many of the healthy properties of traditionally made kvass come from the fermentation process. They never pasteurize or heat their Kvass, it is living probiotic goodness! They do not use any commercial yeasts or starters instead they grow their own. This is definitely a fun, healthy drink to try!
Also, their Kimchi is ON SALE! Look for this in the Weekly Special section on the market website.

Fry Farm Update- Fry Farm had to put all their produce listings on hold due to freeze damage. I’ll let you all know when they are back on the market.

CSA Farmers Market:  Growing Season Update 1-28-2016

Yes things are growing in the hoop house right now, these pictures were taken today at White Pine Farm. Hiding under the covers is kale, turnips, Chinese cabbage and more, not hiding under the covers is spinach. During this time of year the plants are not doing much, they are waiting for the sun in the sky to shine long enough during the day and the temperatures to rise before they start growing again, that usually happens in the middle of February.

Whetham Organic Farm is on vacation this week while they are doing some remodeling.

Almar apple choices are dwindling, they are planting new variety of trees in their orchards, taking old dying trees down and pruning the trees so they will be more productive during the summer.

GCC their chickens are producing eggs in high gear, although during the winter due to the increased cost and work they have raised their prices. We expect to see a price decrease in the summer,
