Lathemtown Farm Fresh Market: This Week at the Market
Good morning! We’ve got a delicious menu this week! While the garden is slowing down a bit, we still have lots of peppers like our shishito and jalepeno. Grab a few of these for grilling!
p. I was able to catch the predator that has been attacking my hens and eating the eggs – a raccoon! I’m hoping he’s the only culprit, but keeping the trap set just in case.
p. Our peacock has shed his feathers, so his beautiful plumes are availble again.
p. This is the last week before school will start next week. Can you believe we’re there already??!!! That being said, I know several customers may have their last vacations scheduled, or events on the weekend. If you know that you will not be able to pick up your order on Saturday, just let me know and I can hold it until Sunday. I prefer that you receive your items the freshest they can be!
p. Looking for a great snack that holds up in the heat? Try Golden Goddess Granola! I keep a bag in my greenhouse while working outside. A bottle of my switchel and a handful of granola gives me a boost of energy to keep going. My favorite is Lemon Blueberry! It’s also great topped on yogurt for lunch or over ice cream!
Brown Bakehouse will be coming back next week with a couple of her sourdough boules!!
Have a great week!
Famrher Chef Amy

Linwood Lamb:
We are getting a lot of positive comments on our feta cheese and spinach lamb sliders. They come in packs of 6 patties, are great on the grill and are quick and easy to prepare. Give them a try this week.
From last week blog, a reminder the weather is warming up and so are our grills. Try some lamb on the grill for 4th of July celebration or anytime this summer. All the cuts listed under Linwood Lamb work great on the grill:
Lamb Loin Chops
Lamb Rib Chops
Lamb Leg Steaks
Feta Cheese and Lamb Sliders (My girls really like these)
Ground Lamb
If you need recipes or tips on how to cook, just ask.
As a general rule, we grill all of our lamb to a 135-140 degree F internal temperature. The thinner cuts only take 6 or 8 minutes to grill.
For the thicker cuts (rib and loin chops) I split the grill in half and put all of the charcoal on one side (hot side; direct cooking) and leave the other side empty (cool side; indirect cooking). I sear the chops on the hot side for 1 min then flip them and sear the other side of the chop for 1 minute. Then I move the chops to the cool side of the grill and let them cook indirectly with the top down for another 8-10 minutes until the temperature reaches 135. Seasonings are pretty simple: salt and pepper, and maybe a little ginger.
Calico Farms:
New this week are our gluten-free S’mores cookies – the perfect treat for summer…or anytime. We had our standard recipe available last week & decided to make a GF version for our friends that need it. Rich, dark chocolate chips by Pascha & Dandie’s vegan vanilla marshmallows will have your taste buds dancing. The coconut sugar is a lower glycemic sweetener that gives the “graham cracker” taste we crave in this cookie. As with all our baked goods, these are dairy-free/vegan as well. Sold in 6-packs & ready to “add to cart”!
Also new are our frosted lime cookies – a buttery soft shortbread-type cookie with lime zest both in the dough and sprinkled on top of the light icing. Beyond refreshing.
Still want other cookie options? Try our dairy-free lemon buttermilk or strawberry thumbprints.
If you’re looking for our ever-popular scones, this week we’re featuring our blackberry lime. It’s a truly unique & delicious combination of summer-flavor favorites. These are full-size scones, organic & dairy-free, sold in 3-packs.
Finally, for our savory fans (or just to off-set the sweets lol) don’t forget about our 2 salsa varieties and various pecans (buttered) & nut flavors (spicy or extra-spicy herbed mixed nuts). Both are tasty options for snacking or adding to recipes.
NashPhilly:
Cold soups for hot summer days! We are now offering two refreshing , light and delicious soups for the market. We are making a cucumber, yogurt and dill soup. And we will be continuing making the popular watermelon gazpacho for the rest of the summer.
We have quite the variety of chef inspired salads on the our menu this summer. Caprese Salad (fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced tomatoes, and freshly picked basil) Spinach and strawberry salad ( feta cheese, toasted almonds, cucumbers and grilled chicken) NashPhilly Cobb salad ( hard boiled eggs, bacon, cheddar cheese, cucumbers and tomatoes) Greek salad ( Greek olives, feta cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, freshly chopped thyme and oregano.) All dressing are made fresh scratch!
Another Philly sandwich! Have you had a south Philly roast pork sandwich? The pork is also slow roasted and pulled. It’s cooked with lots whole garlic cloves, onions, and rubbed with Italian herbs and finished with freshly squeezed lemon. On the sandwich is the pork sautéed spinach greens and provolone cheese. If you like Philly cheese steaks I am sure you would enjoy this too!
