Hello, friends!

NEWS AND NOTES

With all the new additions, as well as continuing offerings, there is absolutely no excuse not to have a bountiful, delicious spread for Thanksgiving dinner!

Welcome to Delicious Nutritious Bread from Manchester! Tena Grenell has been selling at Manchester and Tullahoma farmers’ markets, and now brings her breads to Manchester Locally Grown and to Square Books on Thursdays and Fridays, while supplies last. This week she has added to our market several types and flavors of homemade breads and rolls, with more to come.

White City Produce & Greenhouses has added Curly/Savoy Cabbage, and both Collard & Turnip Greens.

You need to check out the grape jelly from Weaver Farms in adorable 8 ounce jars, on display at Square Books. They are also available as a case of 12 jars, which can be mixed by flavor to your specifications.

Vegetable production is easing off, but these great vegetables are still available on our market from local growers: Brussels sprouts, broccoli, cabbage, kale, onions, red potatoes, spinach, tomatoes, and turnips; and several types of lettuce & peppers.

But our farmers’ market is not just about vegetables. Please take note of some of the seasonal items available this week: Live Water Kefir Grains and Square Bale Grass Hay from Triple B Farms; Ground Beef from Paccman Ranch; and Scuppernong cider and jelly from White City Produce & Greenhouses.

Dogwood Valley Greenhouse is offering fabric-lined baskets filled with three herb plants, each in its own 4" pot. These pretty baskets will make great Thanksgiving decorations or hostess gifts. Herbs included will be those commonly used in baking and cooking, a great addition to any kitchen. Specify your preference of herbs from this list: green or purple basil; lemon balm; orange, pineapple, apple, chocolate, spearmint, or grapefruit mint; Greek or variegated oregano; silver-edged, English, common, variegated lemon, citrus, or lime thyme. Basket #1 is approximately 8-9" round with a handle, but may be different from the picture on the market. Pattern of fabric may vary, but will be fall/Thanksgiving themed.

We also have lots of our regular year-round items: perennial, herb, and fern plants, as well as a good selection of houseplants; local milk, eggs, and honey; lots of different pork cuts; several dried herbs and fresh, as well as lots of homemade herbal products too.

(L to R) San Francisco Sourdough Bread and Whole grain or sourdough dinner rolls from Delicious Nutritious Bread, Turnip & Collard Greens and Curly/Savoy Cabbage from White City Produce & Greenhouses.

Important Ordering and Pickup Information

Ordering this week only will be open until MONDAY at 10 p.m., and your order will be available for pickup on WEDNESDAY between 4:00 and 5:30 at Square Books, 113 East Main Street, Manchester. We will not be able to hold your order in the refrigerator this week, but I can make delivery in Manchester or Hillsboro on Wednesday after 6. If you prefer to utilize this free service, please make a note on your order or call my cell at (931) 273-9708. Free delivery will be available this week only.

Thanks so much for your support of Manchester Locally Grown Market, and your friends and neighbors who have grown and produced these items. Please encourage our local farmers by helping to spread the word about our wonderful market to everyone you know. We have more variety than many large Saturday markets, and our items will be in your hands on Thursday! Instead of fighting the crowds and getting up early to search for what you want at the Saturday market, check out the wonderful products our local growers have for you, from the comfort of your own computer.

We have some new farmers considering joining our market, if they can expect large sales to help pay their transportation costs. Please help us grow the market by sharing this e-mail with your friends, calling their attention to the later pickup hours, which may be more convenient for them. And if you haven’t ordered from Manchester Locally Grown for a while, please check out our wide variety of offerings this week. Also please let us know if we can improve our selection or scheduling in any way to better suit your needs.

Blessings,
Linda

Here is the complete list for this week.

Dawson Local Harvest:  HAPPY THANKSGIVING! No Market due to Holiday.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

No Market Due To the Holiday Weekend.

HI EVERYONE!

Well, Thanksgiving is upon us and due to the Holiday weekend the Dawson Local Harvest will not be open this week. On a personal note Lei and I will be visiting my very elderly parents (90 and 87). I hope you’ll have a similar chance to be with your family and/or those you love and cherish (hoping they are not mutually exclusive).

The Harvest will be open every Friday in December until Christmas week. We’ll have lots of scrumptious goodies for you in December, so look for our email next Sunday.

Here’s hoping you and yours have a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday!

Alan and Leilani
