Russellville Community Market:  Special RCM Announcement- Please Read!

We are at an exciting crossroads with the Russellville Community Market! As many of you may know, we recently added a great new team member to RCM with Tabitha taking over as our new market manager.

To give a brief history, this market began in 2010 as a small cooperative between a few family farmers, and they began to establish a customer base. Then, in October 2011, the central group who now makes up the board of directors for RCM took on the responsibilities of caring for the market, and boy have we grown! We currently have about 20 active growers, and our customer base is growing weekly.

In order to keep RCM on a growth trajectory, we have decided to move toward the goal of paying our market manager for all the hard work she does for RCM, which will be a first for us! This requires that we make a small increase in the surcharge our customers pay on their orders. The ability for us to pay our market manager definitely makes us proud of the way RCM has grown over the last few years. It should also make our supporters of great local food (YOU!) proud because it means local food is beginning to take root in Russellville, and for our great customers and supporters to be a part of that growth is something to really be proud of!

OK, how big is this change? We are increasing the customer surcharge from its current 6% up to 8%. So, on a $25.00 order, you will now pay 50 cents more— a $2.00 surcharge instead of $1.50. Not bad, right? All in the name of keeping local food going in Russellville! These increases in surcharges will go into effect January 1st, 2016, at which time we will begin the year anew, and continue to move forward creating a stronger, sustainable local food community!

So with our announcement out of the way, we want to say “Thank you!” for your continued support of RCM, and we sincerely hope you look forward to seeing us grow in your community as much as we do!

Farm Where Life is Good:  Daily mini-market at Drop site #1-- Inver Grove Heights

Winter spinach— oh, how sweet it is

Farm Where Life is Good

Farm News

We hope this finds you all toasty warm on this tip-toe-into-winter week! I am out in the high tunnel today workin’ the spinach in 50deg temps. Quite nice to shed the coat, hat and mittens while harvesting and listening to a good book!

Some good news for our spinach distribution…we have been offered the opportunity to set up a mini-farmer’s market in front of the Inver Grove Heights Animal Hospital each day and have taken swift advantage. Daily (usually) we are offering bagged spinach and this season’s honey for sale (cash only, self-serve.) Check in at the farm phone (715 426-7582) if you want to confirm the table is out, but usually open by 9am and closed by 5pm. (It varies a bit with Razz’ traveling schedule.)

So, get your weekly spinach fix and monthly honey hit when you need them. We can also arrange larger “gifts for the whole family” honey sales, on demand. Just let us know.

Mini-Market Location:
7131 Cahill Ave
Inver Grove Heights, MN 55076
Table to the left of the front door

For the really local folks, we welcome on-farm sales with advanced notice too, so let us know. 715 426 7582

Enjoy your holiday season, stay warm and eat well!

Roger and Lara
