Dawson Local Harvest:  HOLIDAYS at the HARVEST!

The Dawson Local Harvest for December 4th

HOLIDAYS at the HARVEST!

SEASON’S GREETINGS, EVERYONE!

THE DAWSON LOCAL HARVEST IS OPEN. HARD to believe Christmas is just around the corner. The Christmas season is often a time of searching to find the right gift, coming up with new appetizers, and so forth. Fortunately, the Dawson Harvest can be of some help.

For the coffee-lovers in your family JAVA GENESIS has a couple of Christmas blend Coffees blended just for the Holidays, great for breakfast and with desserts, which you can find in the Coffee section.

HANALEI BATH always has really neat, natural soaps, bath salts, essential oils, and lots more. Special Holiday offerings include their Rosemary Peppermint Body Soap and Eucalyptus Spearmint Body Soap, priced just right for teachers, friends, as stocking stuffers, and more.

MY DAILY BREAD has fantastic Prepared Foods like Cheese Logs and such. My particular favorite is their Hot Pepper Peach Cheese Log which is fabuloue with crackers. They’ve got other choices as well like their Beer-Buzzed Cheese Dip. I always get a couple of different and delicious items for something easy and quick to serve. Great Cookies and Desserts, too.

FIVE HENS FARMS has a great Christmas Ham Steak using the simple recipe in the Ham Steak item description. They also have a full slate of free-range Beef including Steaks, Ground Beef, Roasts, and much more. They’ve even got Fido covered with Beef Dog Bones in the Pet section.

This is a great time of the year to review all the Market listings. There are an awful lot of gems out there that can help make your Holiday shopping easier.

THE MARKET IS NOW OPEN!

REMEMBER! You can order until Tuesday night at 8pm. Pick up your order at Leilani’s Gardens Friday afternoons from 4 to 7pm.

You’ll find the DAWSON LOCAL HARVEST at http://dawsonville.locallygrown.net

We thank you for your interest and support of our efforts to bring you the healthiest, the freshest and the most delicious locally-produced foods possible! We guarantee your satisfaction with all products in the DAWSON LOCAL HARVEST.

Have a happy and healthy week!

ALFN Local Food Club:  The Market Is Open

Good Day ALFN Members

I trust all of you had a relaxing and filling time with food and people. We are inside the holiday season, and the market is full of tasty options.

  • Willow Springs is back with some diverse tastes including Moringa roots, wild beautyberry jelly, watermelon radishes, cilantro, and lemon drop pepper jelly.
  • Armstead Mountain Farm has some beautiful spinach and Napa cabbage for anyone with a hankering to make traditional Kimchi.
  • Green Acres has a few new listings including organic Pork Ribs.

The International Climate Change Conference begins tomorrow in Paris. There seems to be more resolve from countries to reduce greenhouse gas emissions with 95% of countries submitting reduction plans within their own borders. Unfortunately, climate change has been politicized in our country confusing the issue and rendering the science opaque. It remains important for large governments to provide tangible plans for action. Farming is chaotic enough without considering the potential shifts in climate increasing extreme weather events. With the warmest month on record since 1963, October was an example of shifts in weather patterns. These patterns are what give us plant hardiness zones as well as unique food cultures based on local flora and fauna. Keep your ears tuned to what happens this year at the conference. Of course, I have more confidence in local change driven by local producers and consumers, but we need the big global players to join reality.

Have a wonderful week.

Market News

I hope everyone had a safe and happy thanksgiving. The Market is back open this morning with a wide variety of locally made and grown products.

Farrar Farms and Chef Jenny are taking a break this week.

Bloomin Shrooms returns with his shiitake mushrooms. Double Star Bar Farms is back with his artisan bread, stevia and bug repellent. JourneyWorks also returns with a variety of greens plus kindling wood.

Rainbow Hill Farm adds organic sweet potatoes to their listing of organic produce.

Botanical Harmony leaves this note:

“Our skin care products are all back in stock! Specialty clay masques featuring our wild-harvested rose petals and nettle leaf along with matching toners will help keep skin healthy through the winter. Add a luxurious whipped body butter in 3 scents to protect and moisturize. The butter is wonderful on feet and heels and keeps hands so soft!

Try a sugar scrub that is beyond a treat, it is a must for supple, moisturized skin that doesn’t leave a greasy feel, just incredible feeling skin! Infused with lavender and calendula flowers grown on our farm along with superb organic ingredients. If you don’t see a scent (essential oils only) please request and we will try our best to accommodate!"

There are plenty of other products available this week. Browse the categories to see what your will find.

Thanks so much for your support of Stones River Market, all of our growers, local food, and our rights to eat it. We’ll see you on Wednesday at Southern Stained Glass at 310 West Main Street from 5:00 to 6: 30 pm!

Recipes
